From Dr. Hertzberg

Great Start - Great News

As we begin our 35th year, we have so much to praise God for including the tremendous work and faithful diligence of our staff, faculty, board and so many parent volunteers - all serving together propelling us to a very encouraging start in so many ways. A few highlights:

Our 2018-2019 school theme of "Loving God - Loving Others" is taken from Mark 12:30-31: "And you shall love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."  We pray and trust that all of us - students, parents, staff and faculty alike will grow in our love for God and others this year.

We thank God for the hard work of so many resulting in a significant overall enrollment increase of almost 10%! The first enrollment increase in 5 years. Our Upper School grew by approximately 25%. Please join us in warmly welcoming 100 new new students and their families to CHA.

We are also welcoming several excellent new teachers to our community. We are very thankful that our Lord has led such gifted and committed Christian teachers to our school as they equip and teach our children.

We are greatly encouraged that has again ranked our Upper School as the No.1 Christian high school in Illinois! We are also ranked the No. 9 private K-12 school in the entire state. While there is much to do and improve on every front, we are grateful for these positive affirmations that we are on the right track.

We are committed to helping resource parents and families in our shared partnership of raising up the next generation of Christ-followers. Just two of the ways we are seeking to help parents and families is by offering Women's Precept Bible Study and also the Family Enrichment Series. Just this morning almost 50 women gathered to study God's word under the excellent teaching of Mrs. Linda Gunter. All women are invited to attend next Thursday at 8:45AM. Also, mark your calendars for our first outstanding Family Enrichment Series event of the year: Thursday, October 4th: 7- 8PM with Pastor Erwin Lutzer. His topic of great importance to all families is: "Technology, Purity and Godliness in your Home." Plan to come and please feel free to invite others who may be interested in this critical topic.

Our Fall Prayer Emphasis Week culminates this Saturday with our annual CHA Prayer Walk from 9AM to 11AM. If anything of a lasting transforming eternal work is to happen in the lives of our children - it will be because there is an earnest daily commitment to prayer on the part of all us. Please plan to join the Prayer Walk on Saturday. Our desire is that every family from our CHA community be represented. Also know that all parents are invited to join the every Monday Parents Prayer time in the chapel from 8:30 to 9:15AM.

Please take some time to scroll through the entirety of Parents Page. Not to do so will almost certainly result in missing some important information or events. Also, please be alert for additional information in the coming weeks concerning some new initiatives that are currently underway. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we continue to work towards greater clarity.

Coming Events

There are many wonderful things happening this fall at CHA.
Please make note of these great opportunities.

Prayer Emphasis Week

We are convinced that prayer is one of the most important things that we can do as a school community. As we focus this week on praying for our school as with one voice, we invite you to join us.

We hope you have been receiving our daily text messages this week, asking  you to pray for a specific aspect of our school community. So far we have prayed for Unity (Monday), Revival (Tuesday), our Teachers (Wednesday) and our Students (today). Watch your text messages tomorrow morning for Friday's prayer topic and take some time to lift our school up before the Lord. Please also consider these additional prayer opportunities:

With our increased enrollment, elementary PE is in need of more youth soccer balls (size 3 or 4). If you have any used soccer balls that you would be willing to donate, please bring them to school ASAP. Questions? Contact Mrs. Brady, K-5th grade PE teacher.
