Dear Parents and Guardians: The start of the second semester is a good time to be sure parental permissions are up-to-date in our Veracross and Boardingware software. Establishing student permissions is an important tool in assisting us in managing students' activity and travel off campus and helps us to ensure student safety according to parental guidelines.

Students Named Best Directors in
Regional A Cappella Festival

Walker's a cappella group, the Grapes, participated in the largest scholastic a cappella competition in New England, the 10th Annual Wyvern Invitational a Cappella Festival, at Kingswood Oxford School on Saturday, January 27. Sophia Lomba '18, Adela Yan '18 and Keeley Duran '18 were named Best Student Directors. Hooray Sunray!

Middle School Debate Team Excels in
State Tournament

Walker's Middle School Debate Team consisting of Mae Johnson '22, BeJay Mugo '22 and Hailey Suller '22 once again went undefeated in a Connecticut Middle School Debate League Tournament. Of the 59 teams competing at Smith Middle School in Glastonbury, Walker's team came in 9th place overall. BeJay got 10th place in Speaker Points out of 177 competitors! Thanks to Kayce Campurcianci '24 and Lexi Donshik '24 for cheering on the team and timing for the judges. Sixth and seventh graders: we need you to carry on the great tradition of debate in the Middle School! Join us during the next club block.

Parents and Alumnae Provide Sweet Treats During Midterm Exams
Thank you to The Ethel Walker School Parents Association (EWSPA) and Alumnae Association for delivering yummy treats during midterm study breaks this week. Students enjoyed pastries, fruit, and Suns- and Dials- themed smoothies.

Class of 2019: We are looking forward to beginning our work with the junior class in the College Counseling Seminar next week! Just a reminder that the ACT and SAT prep classes being offered on campus begin on February 11. There are a few spots left, so if you are interested in registering your daughter, please check the College Counseling website for the forms.

Please let Julie Infurna (jinfurna@ethelwalker.org or 860-408-4216) know if you can attend the Junior College Program for parents and students on Saturday, February 17. This event will feature an overview of the college admission process, as well as a lively panel with representatives from six colleges and universities.
