Walker's Awarded New Active Learning Classroom by Steelcase Education
The Ethel Walker School will partner with Steelcase Education to implement personalized learning strategies through Steelcase’s Active Learning Center Grant program. Through this grant, Walker’s will create an environment for its new engineering curriculum that encourages engagement, collaboration and creativity using Steelcase furniture. The grant is valued at approximately $67,000 and covers the furniture, design, installation and on-site training needed to effectively use the new space.

Jaden Kassa '20 Selected as a Rising Star in the Local Community
Walker's sophomore Jaden Kassa '20 was featured as a Rising Star in the March 15 edition of the Valley Press celebrating exceptional students from the Farmington Valley who have made significant contributions to their school and community. A leader in both the classroom and the dance studio, Jaden was nominated by her advisor, Director of Equity and Social Justice Elisa Cardona, and her dance instructor, Art Department Chair Cheri Soule. Hooray Sunray, Jaden!

Middle School Student Selected for Publication 
Hooray Sunray to sixth grade student Chloe Fares '24, whose poem "An Ode to My Phone" has been selected for publication in the 2018 Austin International Poetry Festival (AIPF) Youth Anthology.  Selected poets receive a copy of the publication and are invited to read their poem at the Anthology Launch during the festival April 5-8. Congratulations, Chloe!

Equestrian Excels in Ocala
Walker's equestrian Becky Morris '19 has had several high placings in the renowned HITS Ocala Winter Circuit, which offers ten weeks of world-class hunter/jumper competitions in Ocala, Florida. Read more for some result highlights. Hooray Sunray, Becky!

Computer Science Workshop Offered at
Yale University

High school students are invited to attend "CodeBoola," a one-day computer science bootcamp held April 14 on the Yale University campus. Taught by Yale students, the focus for the day includes the basics of computer science with topics on artificial intelligence, how the internet works, technology and law, user interface design and more. Registration ends April 4. Interested students should contact Computer Science Teacher Leslie Goff at lgoff@ethelwalker.org.

We encourage parents to be sure that all contact information is up-to-date as well by logging in to the Veracross Parent Portal and updating the information under the 'Update Household Profile' tab.
