Students Learn from Tony-Nominated Director and Choreographer
On Wednesday, October 4, Tony-nominated director and choreographer for broadway, film and television John Carrafa visited Walker's campus. Mr. Carrafa is known for his work across a wide variety of dance genres and time periods as well as for working with iconic actors including Robert DeNiro, Tom Hanks, Emma Stone and Anne Hathaway.

Visiting Writer Natalie Diaz Wins MacArthur 'Genius' Grant
Walker's visiting writer Natalie Diaz has been named one of 25 winners of this year's John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation fellowships, commonly known as 'genius' grants awarded annually to individuals who have demonstrated originality, insight and potential for future achievements. The award-winning Native American poet will visit campus in November as part of The Ethel Walker School Visiting Writer Seminar. Please join us on the evening of Friday, November 2 for a reception and reading open to English teachers and interested adults (21+). SAT at Walker's on Saturday: Breakfast will be available in Abra's beginning at 7:00 a.m. Students should report to Beaver Brook lobby at 7:30 a.m. sharp for their room assignments. Students should bring with them the following items: Registration ticket, photo ID (Walker's ID is fine), several sharpened #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils), an approved calculator (the list of approved calculators can be found on the College Board website), and snacks/drinks (if desired).

Book Club and Family Weekend
Book Club: The EWSPA is looking for 1-2 volunteers to organize our parent/faculty book club. Historically, this book club has been made up of parents, faculty and teachers and meets 3-4 times a year. Winter Play Announced
Walker's is excited to announce the 2018-2019 winter production: She Kills Monsters, a dramatic comedy by Qui Nguyen. The Winter Play will be held Thursday, February 28 and Friday, March 1, 2019. Rehearsals begin mid-November. Students should contact Director of Theater Shannen Hofheimer at shofheimer@ethelwalker.org for information on how to audition for a part.

STEM Opportunities for Students
Students interested in computer science, entrepreneurship and engineering are welcome to participate in the following events. Contact Math Faculty Leslie Goff for more information.

School Rings Available for Purchase
Balfour class ring representatives will be available during Family Weekend from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26 outside Abra's Dining Hall if you wish to order an EWS class ring. Each signet ring features the School monogram in purple, and your initials (free) or full name ($15.00) may be engraved inside the ring. All rings are available in 18, 14 or 10 karat yellow, white or rose gold, sterling silver, argentium silver and silvertone celestrium. See the attachment below for more information.
