Poetry Assembly: Translation, Movement, Change
For this week's assembly, the English Department and the Arts Department joined forces to showcase the inspiring conversation between poetry and dance. Students and faculty members shared poems written by women about freedom, movement and change, mostly from the time when Ethel Walker was founding our school. Many of the poems were accompanied by Walker's talented dancers, and the community enjoyed the translation, from one language to another, or from one medium to another, when poetry and dance meet.

Celebrating Published Student Work

  • Ava Strohmeyer '21 will be published in the Vineyard Gazette. Her essay, in which she reflected beautifully on a symbol, her wampum bracelet from her beloved island, is lyrical and moving to read.
