Walker's varsity field hockey team advanced to the New England Preparatory Athletic Council (NEPSAC) semifinals with Wednesday's 2-1 win against Canterbury. Walker's is seeded #3 in New England and the only team in Class C to play in the tournament.

Coffee and Conversation

The next parent gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 4 at 8:30 a.m. in the Beaver Brook Living Room. Enjoy refreshments and conversation with Head of School Dr. Meera Viswanathan and other administrators to hear more about academic priorities, co-curriculars and other activities happening throughout the school year. Parents and guardians are welcome to join their student in Abra's Dining Hall for a meal prior to the gathering. Unable to attend? Join via conference call or save the date for an upcoming gathering on February 18 or April 17.

Student Athletes Signs Letters of Intent
Walker's seniors Chloe Miller, Caroline Stent and Shay Ventresca signed letters of intent this week to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. Chloe will play at Central Michigan (D1), Caroline will play at Stonehill College (D2), and Shay will play at Wofford College (D1). Hooray Sunray!

Student Photographers Place in
Local Photo Contest

Abi Welch '20, Kyleigh Holt '20 and Photography Teacher Ben Barker attended the opening reception and award ceremony for Canton Public Library's Teen Photo Contest on Wednesday, November 14. Abi and Jenessa Lu '21 submitted photographs for the competition along with approximately 60 other local photographers. Abi was the 2nd place winner in the portrait category (top) and Jenessa placed 3rd in the same group (bottom). The contest was open to Farmington Valley residents and students in grades 7 to 12 and winners were judged by a panel of local photographers and artists. The exhibit will remain on display at Canton Public Library, 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton until November 30.

Asian Culture Takes Center Stage
On Wednesday, November 14, student members of Walker's Asian Club presented during the School's annual Asian Assembly, held in Ferguson Theatre. Students shared various aspects of Asian culture, including different dialects and greetings, music, and costume.

Winter Play Cast Visits UConn Puppet Arts Program
The winter play cast of She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition traveled to UConn for a tour of the puppet arts program and practiced operating puppets we are renting for our winter play production. The Winter Play will be held Thursday, February 28 and Friday, March 1, 2019 at 7:00 in Ferguson Theatre.

Class of 2019: In addition to relaxing and catching up on some well-deserved sleep, the break is also a great time for students to finish off their remaining applications, and for parents to complete all necessary financial aid forms. Be sure to check for deadlines on college websites.
