Brianna Duba '19 Named National Field Hockey Player of the Month
Senior Brianna Duba of Harwinton was named as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Player of the Month in Connecticut for November. The NFHCA awards a player of the month in each state throughout the year. The player is nominated and chosen by five representatives from the organization's board. In the history of the honor, no Walker's player has ever received this distinction.

Play4theCure Update: Congratulations to Nina L. from Stamford, CT for winning the ski trip in Argentina, worth $10,000! This Play4theCure raffle item was donated by the Traconis family. Over $8,500 was raised in support of Play4theCure 2018.

Walker's Musicians Selected to Northeast Regionals
Hazel Wang '19, Katherine Tang '22 and Emma Paterson '19 have been selected to the 2018 Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Northeast Regionals. Hazel will be a member of the symphonic band, Katherine will serve as principal in the orchestra, and Emma won a place in the festival chorus. These placements are earned through a rigorous adjudication process, and each of these students are eligible for the All-State Festivals auditions.

Coffee and Conversation

The next parent gathering will be held this coming Tuesday, December 4 at 8:30 a.m. in the Beaver Brook Living Room. Enjoy refreshments and conversation with Head of School Dr. Meera Viswanathan and other administrators to hear more about changes on the horizon. Parents and guardians are welcome to join their student in Abra's Dining Hall for a meal prior to the gathering. Unable to attend? Join via conference call or save the date for an upcoming gathering on February 18 or April 17.


In Collaboration: Creative Writing and Dance

Early this fall, as part of an ongoing effort to demonstrate the connections between creative writing and other arts, several Walker's students collaborated to present their peers with a special poetry and dance performance. This Thursday, the Dimensional Dance Company entertained and enlightened Walker's students with yet another performance that linked dance with creative writing.

Shuttles Offered for Holiday Break
Parents and Students: Shuttles will be offered from Walker's to area train stations and airports for the upcoming holiday break. From the College Counseling Office
SAT: Many juniors (and a few seniors) are taking the SAT at Walker's tomorrow, December 1. We have reminded them to meet in the lobby of Beaver Brook at 7:25 a.m. sharp, and to have with them several sharpened #2 pencils, an approved calculator, their registration ticket and ID, and snacks.
ACT: Juniors are invited to take a free practice ACT on Sunday, December 9 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Walker's. Summit, the company that provides our standardized test prep classes, will administer the test, score it, and return the results to students. We can use this information to determine the best spring testing plan for students so we strongly encourage students to take advantage of this great opportunity. Sign up instructions have been sent to students and must be completed by Thursday, December 6.

Book Club: Save the date for the year’s first EWSPA-sponsored Book Club: Thursday, December 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Common Room. Check your email for RSVP information.
Holiday Reception and Ride: The EWSPA will be hosting a Holiday Parents Reception from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Living Room on Tuesday, December 18, prior to the Holiday Ride. Check your email for more details and RSVP information. We hope to see you there!
