Skiing Wins New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Championship
For the third year in a row, Walker's varsity ski team took home the first place trophy in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Championship. This year, the team moved up from Class C and raced in the Class B championship held Wednesday, February 13 at Ski Sundown in New Hartford, Connecticut.

Parents, Purchase Your Winter Play Tickets
On Thursday, February 28, 2019 and Friday, March 1, 2019, Walker's Theater Program will present She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurer's Edition featuring professional puppets from UConn's Puppet Arts Program. The performances will be open to the public. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under to benefit Walker's theater program. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ethelwalker.org/winterplay and will also be available at the door. (Please note that faculty, staff and students of Walker's do not need to purchase tickets to the performance. Also note that due to copyright, the play will not be streamed on GameOnStream.)

Middle School Night of Excellence Date Change
Middle School families, please note that the Middle School Night of Excellence has been moved to Tuesday, April 30. Please mark your calendars! More information will be forthcoming.

Author Mary Collins Shares Message of Love and Empathy with Walker's Community
During assembly on Wednesday, February 13, students members from the Wings gender and sexuality alliance group introduced the community to guest speaker, professor and author Mary Collins. Collins spoke honestly about her experience with her transgendered son's transition, and read excerpts from their book, At the Broken Places. The community was moved by her message of love, empathy, and the importance of family.

Walker's Participates in Penguin Plunge
Six members of the Ethel Walker Athletic Council (EWAC) and five faculty and staff members participated in the Annual Penguin Plunge, a fundraiser hosted by the Special Olympics of Connecticut. On the 30 degree Sunday, the group of 11 represented Walker's by dressing in Suns and Dials costumes, consisting of purple and yellow headbands, blue and yellow wigs, crazy hats, onesie costumes, capes, and boas and necklaces galore. The outrageous attire helped the group win the Waddle Award, given to the Best Group Costume.

Students Enjoy Valentine's Day Treats
Thank you to our Parents Association for providing treats to our students on Valentine's Day! The senior class also sold candy bags, and students worked on a Valentine's Day puzzle in Ms. Vis' office throughout the day.
