Walker's Celebrates Black History Month
During assembly on Wednesday, Walker's Black Student Union (BSU) gave a moving presentation in honor of Black History Month. Students shared original art pieces and poignant reflections about various aspects of black identity and history. A highlight was a rousing Gospel Choir rendition of "Lift Every Voice And Sing" by James Weldon Johnson, with a solo by Nafarrah Ramsay '21 and Mrs. MacAlpine on piano.

Last week, the Walker's community engaged in a series of workshops that explored a sense of self through various techniques including collage, music, and movement among many other forms of expression. From the College Counseling Office
College Visits - Students have been hard at work in the College Counseling seminar class developing lists of colleges that interest them. Our hope is that they will be able to visit some of them during spring break. Most colleges make it easy to register for tours and information sessions - simply check out their websites for information. If spring break does not work out for college visits, keep in mind the long spring weekend in April. If nothing else, there is great value in just taking a tour of a college that is local to you to see what sort of information gets covered.
ROTC - On Thursday, March 7 from 8:00-8:55 a.m., Gunnery Sergeant Dederick Brooks will be in the College Counseling Office to meet with any student who is interested in learning about ROTC scholarships, as well as opportunities in the Marines and Navy.

Follow Our Students' Habitat for Humanity Blog
During spring break, students will be traveling to Bryan/College Station, Texas for Habitat for Humanity. Keep up to date with their trip by reading their blog; read a sampling of last year's posts at www.ethelwalker.org/habitatblog.
