Sixth graders Alexia Grech '23, Darby Sheldon '23, and Kate Samson '23  collect and identify insects in Salmon Brook to help the Farmington River Watershed Association determine the health of the river as part of a greater study the class will do throughout the spring.

Students Share Hispanic Heritage with Walker's Community
During Chapel on Wednesday, October 5, students and Spanish teacher Isabel Ceballos shared various aspects of Hispanic culture in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Students engaged in an interactive quiz about Hispanic heritage and shared misconceptions, spoken word pieces and personal reflections about their culture.

RSVP for Head of School Investiture Ceremony Next Friday, October 14
Next Friday, October 14, Dr. Meera Viswanathan will be the honored guest at an investiture ceremony marking the beginning of her time as Walker's head of school. Join trustees, alumnae, parents, other heads of schools, and many special guests for this important event. The processional begins at 3:30 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 4:00 p.m. (This is a required event for all students.)

Family Weekend 2016
Family Weekend will be held Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29, 2016. Family members are invited to attend classes, meet teachers, cheer for our athletic teams, celebrate the closing of the Centennial Campaign and a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday morning to celebrate the opening of the Centennial Center! The Friday evening and Saturday morning events are required for students. Room blocks have been made at most area hotels. Please mention Walker's for a special rate.

The College Counseling Office and the EWSPA are hosting "Exploring Financial Aid and Cash Management Solutions" on Thursday, October 13 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Bell Library. Featuring John Pearson of the Barnum Financial Group's Center for College Planning, this presentation is intended for anyone who wants advice on how to best prepare financially to send a child to college. Support Play 4 the Cure 2016 Field Hockey Play Day
Each year, Walker's helps raise awareness for cancer patients and their families through Play 4 the Cure, a fundraising platform dedicated to raising funds for the National Foundation for Cancer Research through competitive sporting events. Please consider making a donation to this effort, or support our field hockey players down on the turf fields the morning of October 15.
