Students Share Collaborative Art and Poetry Projects with Walker's Community
During Chapel on Wednesday, students from Scott Frey's creative writing and Grace Epstein's drawing classes presented poems and artwork as part of their collaborative responsive journal projects. Drawing students visually communicated the messages they took from poems written by the creative writing students, and the girls shared how the project allowed them to express themselves and find meaning in both written and visual forms.

Meet Our New Spanish Teacher
We are excited to welcome Ryan Martin to the Walker’s community as Marisa Johnson's maternity leave replacement. Ryan, a Connecticut native, has a degree in secondary education and sociology from the Southwest Minnesota State University. He lived in Spain for eight years where he became fluent in Spanish, has taught both in the classroom and on the basketball court, and is eager to begin working with our students. While in Spain, Ryan played professional wheelchair basketball. Ryan also runs The Ryan Martin Foundation, which offers programs for students with disabilities to succeed in life both on and off the court. He works as a consultant for the NCAA and their adaptive sports initiative, and gives motivational diversity presentations around the world.

From the College Counseling Office
On January 26, Athletic Director John Monagan and Director of College Counseling Clarissa Basch met with students who are interested in playing sports in college. As the students learned, there are some added steps to take and things to know as they begin their college search process. They distributed copies of the NCAA's Student Bound Athlete Guide to all students in attendance, and encouraged parents to take a look at the NCAA Eligibility Center website as there is a lot of useful information for both parents and students there.

Class of 2018: We look forward to seeing you on campus next Saturday for the Junior Parent College Program. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the library (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.)

Save the Date for Our Next Book Club

Update from Bleachers Video Streaming Service
As of February 8, Bleachers video streaming service has temporarily ceased all operations. A Message from Dean of Studies and Faculty Jill Harrington
As we start the second semester, we are working to streamline book ordering and charges for English classes. In order to implement this process, we will be charging student accounts for the full cost of the expected second semester reading list for each English class ($40/student). Charges will appear on the March billing. Students will be provided with the books during English class throughout the second semester.
