Seventh Grader Qualifies for
Duke Gifted Program

Seventh grader BeJay Mugo '22 was invited to join the Duke University Talent Identification Program's (Duke TIP) prestigious 7th Grade Talent Search. Each year, Duke TIP identifies a group of academically-talented students in the United States based on their exceptional grade-level standardized test scores. Only those who score at or above the 95th percentile qualify.

Seniors Inducted into Alumnae Association
The Class of 2017 was inducted into the Alumnae Association in the Chapel this past Saturday, May 20 as part of Reunion Weekend. Brea Austin '17 and Eshita Rahman '17 were also presented with the Alumnae Board Social Action Award for their demonstrated concern of social inequality, and Nina Chukwura '17 was elected early membership into the Alumnae Board. Hooray Sunray!

Spring Music Recitals Next Weekend
The talents of our outstanding instrumentalists and vocalists will be on display next Sunday, June 4 for our Spring Music Rectials. All are welcome to attend! Please join us in the Chapel to celebrate the hard work of our musicians.

Junior Raises Awareness About Skin Cancer
Even though Libby Mewbourne is only in her junior year, she already has a plan for her future beyond Walker's as an aspiring dermatologist. She has taken the initiative to learn more about the medical field and has been accepted into the Cornell and UMiami summer medical programs. Recently, she was given the opportunity to attend a family member's melanoma removal surgery performed by Dr. Daniel Kapp in Palm Beach, FL. Because this disease has affected her family, she has become very passionate about skin cancer prevention. Take a look at this video of Libby where she shares some ideas on how you can take steps to prevent skin cancer:

Summer Conditioning Clinic
Walker's Athletic Director John Monagan and Assistant Athletic Director Mimi Duran are running a preseason conditioning clinic for summer 2017, focusing on agility, endurance, and core skills. The camp runs August 28-31. All ability levels are welcome; camp is open to girls in grades seven through 12.
