The Middle School Garden Club harvested pumpkins and apples this week from the School's garden with faculty advisor Chris Semk.

Admissions Open House - Monday, October 9
Help us spread the word about Walker's by sharing information on our upcoming open house. This three-hour program includes a student-guided campus tour, an opportunity to learn about our curriculum, and numerous ways to meet and interact with students, faculty and staff. The program begins at 8:45 a.m. and concludes at 11:45 a.m. Interested families can visit www.ethelwalker.org/openhouse to register.

On Wednesday, our equestrian team presented its annual riding chapel to students, faculty and staff. Seniors Hope Cushman '18 and Laurel Gaddis '18 gave a riding demonstration in the indoor ring while Becky Morris '19 and Grace Romanik '18 provided commentary and answered questions from the audience. Afterward, students and faculty had a chance to groom, pet and feed the horses.

Vie for the Kids Returns to Walker's October 1
Be a Cure Crusader! The 6K Vie for the Kids event returns to Walker's on Sunday, October 1 to help raise funds to support cancer trials, treatment and research for kids at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Last year, Walker's own Mary McNally '17 placed first in the women's division. This year, join our cross country team in the race while supporting a great cause. Free 'Screenagers' Movie Screening and Discussion October 18
Jewish Family Service's Tara’s Closet and the Mandell JCC’s Family Room present Screenagers to the greater Hartford community on Wednesday, October 18 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to attend this free screening and discussion along with their children. A mental health professional from Jewish Family Services will discuss the movie and offer advice to parents. We will also hear testimonials from teenagers on how they deal with social media. Panel discussion following the film will be moderated by Dennis House, Channel 3 Eyewitness News Anchor and Face the State moderator. Thank you to Jen Bucari P'20 for passing along this opportunity!
