Walker's Senior Attends UConn's
Women in Engineering Day

On Thursday, September 28, Walker's senior Lilah Kelly '18 attended the third annual Women in Engineering event at the University of Connecticut. Lilah had the opportunity to interview two all-women panels: a group of alumni who currently have careers in engineering as well as a panel of current engineering students at UConn. Participants then toured the two engineering buildings on campus, saw what students have been working on so far, and had lunch with current engineering majors.

Students Share Hispanic Heritage with
Walker's Community

During Chapel on Wednesday, September 27, students and faculty members shared various aspects of Hispanic culture in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15. Students shared personal reflections about their culture, a folk tale in both Spanish and English, and the contributions of various Latinx leaders.

Athletes of the Week
Ellery Finn '18, KC O'Connor '19 and Amanda Torres '19 were named athletes of the week for outstanding sportsmanship. Their coaches shared the following comments:

  • Ellery Finn '18, Varsity Soccer (Simsbury, CT): "Skilled and Dedicated Leader" Ellery scored four goals in two games. Three were for a hattrick (which was an incredibly difficult task against a quality opponent), and the fourth was scored with 90 seconds left vs. Hamden Hall to earn us a draw!
  • KC O'Connor '19, Varsity Field Hockey (Avon, CT): "Skilled, Scrappy, Fast" KC scored six goals in four of the last five games. She scored one goal against Loomis, two goals against Choate, two against Berkshire and one against Hotchkiss.
  • Amanda Torres '19, JV Volleyball (Bronx, NY): "Leader, Play-maker, Hilarious" Amanda has been on JV for three years and has grown tremendously. This year she was elected to a captain's role, in which she has excelled at teaching her teammates a new rotation while stepping into the power middle position. Amanda never gives up, never backs down, and always keeps her feet moving.

Walker's Equestrians Excel in Westbrook
