Local author and Trinity College Writer-in-Residence Lucy Ferriss visited campus on Thursday to meet with English and Foundations of the Modern World students. Ferriss shared passages from her newest novel, A Sister to Honor, along with photos and stories from her 2012 research trip to Pakistan.

Senior Shares the Transformative Power of Dance
Walker's senior Garet Wierdsma '18 recently worked with alumna Nan Alexander Doyal '81 on a story for Nan's blog for Dig Where You Are, a book about seven remarkable men and women from around the world who have worked to make
local change become global. Garet describes how she started a dance class for children with Down syndrome and in the process discovered the power to communicate, connect and learn through movement (digwhereyouare.com).

Fall Athletic Awards Announced

Terry Allen Farms Equestrian Results
On Sunday, November 19, Walker's equestrian team competed in an Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) horse show held at Terry Allen Farms in Terryville. The team placed third overall. Individual results included: In Open, Becky Morris '19 placed third over fences and fourth on the flat; In Intermediate, Hannah Theriault '20 placed second in jumping and fifth on the flat; In Novice, Margaret Szczygiel '21 placed fourth over fences and first on the flat and Alexis Berard '19 placed second over fences and fourth on the flat; and in Beginner, Abby McRavey '20 placed sixth on the flat. Hooray Sunray!

From the College Counseling Office
SAT: Many juniors (and a few seniors) are taking the SAT at Walker's tomorrow, December 2. We have reminded them to meet in the lobby of Beaver Brook at 7:30 a.m. sharp, and to have with them several sharpened #2 pencils, an approved calculator, their registration ticket and ID, and snacks.
Spring Break College Tour: The sign up for the spring break college tour to Washington, DC and North Carolina for 10th and 11th graders has been extended to December 8. Attached below is information about the tour and instructions on how to sign up. Students were sent a form to submit to us is they were interested in being considered for financial assistance.

The Ethel Walker School Parents Association
