Please Come to RA's In-House Open House on January 18

RA will be hosting an In-House Open House event on Thursday, January 18 from 8:45 to 11am. This event is for any currently enrolled parent, whether preschool or K-8, whether Ridgefield campus or Bedford/Redding/Westport, to come and listen to Jim Heus, Head of School and a panel of student speakers, and spend time visiting classrooms to see first hand what our students do on a daily basis. Patriot Pride Night

RA's second annual Patriot Pride Night is Friday, January 19 and is sure to be a great night of basketball and family fun! Bring the whole family to the RA gym to watch two exciting basketball games played by our own Grade 8 teams. Doors open at 5pm.

We are excited to welcome Ridgefield Basketball Association teams and their families to compete in the 5:30pm boys game and the 7:15pm girls game.

Watch for half-time contests for student spectators of all ages, raffle drawings, and school spirit items for sale. Concessions, including dinner items, will be available throughout the evening. 

Please note that the week leading up to the night of basketball will be Patriot Pride week with different RA spirit dress downs each day. Here are the themes for the week:

Tuesday: Crazy Hat and Hair
Wednesday: Favorite Sports Team
Thursday: Mismatch/Backwards
Friday: Patriot Pride - Wear Patriot Pride Night t-shirt or blue/white RA wear

Choose white or blue in this performance tee, available in adult and youth sizes. The cost per shirt is $20 until Sunday, January 14th when online ordering will close. After that, the cost will be $25. Students (and adults) are invited to wear their shirts not only to school on the 19th to show their spirit, but that evening as well!

You won't want to miss this exciting opportunity to cheer on the RA Patriots on our home court!

Save the Date for the State of the School Address

Please join us at RA's State of the School Address on the evening of Thursday, January 25. The night starts with delicious hors d'oeuvres, craft beer and wine, served from 7pm - 7:45pm.

At 7:45pm, our 45-minute presentation will begin in Hope Hall. Members of our Board of Trustees and Head of School Jim Heus will speak about the financial health of the school and the evolution and direction of teaching and learning. Looking forward to seeing you there!

RA Lower School Winter Coffees

RA parents will have the opportunity to socialize, hear about age-specific topics, and to get to know their child's teachers over the coming weeks. Please join us from 8:30 to 9:30am in the Summit Building. We look forward to seeing you there!

LS Feel Good Friday

LS Feel Good Friday is Friday, January 26. The PE department is partnering with LS faculty in organizing a day of fun activities to keep everyone active. Students are encouraged to wear sports gear.

RA Celebrates the Winter Olympics with Special Ceremony

In anticipation of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, RA students, faculty, and staff will celebrate the Winter Olympics with their own special ceremony in the gymnasium on Monday, February 5 at 8:30am. All are invited to this exciting event!

We are in need of toilet paper tubes to make our Olympic torches! Please send us your cardboard tubes!

Afternoon Dismissal for Enrichment Clubs

As a reminder, parents are responsible for updating their child's dismissal information on Veracross in the student logistic request section. If you child is scheduled to attend a club, it's important that you document the dismissal change. If the change isn't made, your child will be sent home based on their regular dismissal plan for that day.

2018 LS Tournament of Books

The RA Library is once again holding its annual Lower School Tournament of Books. This year,  there will be two different tournaments: one for 4s and Kindergarten and the second for Grades 1-3. The tournament will start the week of February 5 and will conclude with the announcement of the winner(s) on March 12 at the morning assembly.

2018-19 Enrollment Update

Landmark Preschool & Ridgefield Academy are now enrolling new students for 2018-19! Our admissions office is already working to build new enrollment for next school year. We are conducting personalized tours each day, hosting prospective student day visits, and accepting applications for September 2018. If you have a sibling you would like to enroll, or if you have a neighbor you would like us to contact, please call Dave Suter at 203-894-1800, x112. Applications are due by January 15, so visit here to begin a new student application! And thank you for referring Landmark and/or RA to prospective families. We appreciate it!

SSS Family Portal is Open for 2018-19!
School and Student Services (SSS) by NAIS has opened their online application site for families seeking tuition assistance for the coming school year. Completed applications are due by January 15. Visit here to get started with financial aid for 2018-19.

RA Announces Enhanced Camp Programs

RA is excited to announce its new summer programs, featuring a broader array of offerings for older children, a longer day with the option of extended care until 5pm for all age groups, flexible schedules, and swimming activities. Camp begins on June 18, 2018 and will run for six weeks. More details to follow shortly, however, should you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Donna Kauth. We hope your child/ren will join us this summer! And please help us spread the word!

RA Gala Auction Committee Needs You!

Box Tops for Education

Please remember to clip those boxtops! Boxtops can be found on all sorts of items purchased for your holiday needs: Hefty, ZipLoc, Land O’Lakes, Pillsbury, Reynolds. The list goes on and on… A list of all participating products can be found here: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/participating-products. To submit box tops, place them in an envelope or ziploc bag labeled with your child(ren)’s first/last name and “blue” or “white” (colors correspond to their field day teams) and drop off at your closest BoxTops collection box: the Summit Building Front Desk, Marcie Maguire’s office at the Lynch House and at the back door drop-off in the Annex Building.
