Student Hallway Photos for Sale

Each year we hang a number of photos of students on our hallway walls. These framed photos are for sale, if you are interested! Each framed photo costs $100 and can be picked up at school. If you are interested in purchasing a photo, please email Katarina Woronik. Checks should be made out to Ridgefield Academy with the mention of "hallway photo" in the memo line of the check. Checks can be handed in at the front desk of the Summit or Annex Building. You can view the photos here.

Please Consider A Gift to the James P. Heus Legacy Fund

This past school year was Jim Heus' final year as Head of School. Jim's nearly two decades of dedicated service and accomplishments to Ridgefield Academy are innumerable. His love for the school's mission and tireless commitment to creating a supportive, engaging and innovative educational experience for students is clearly seen in the success of Ridgefield Academy's graduates. In his honor, the Board of Trustees launched the James P. Heus Legacy Fund to support the things that matter most to Jim: People and Program.

The fund will help support three areas that have been extremely important to Jim during his tenure: 1) the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, the school's main conduit for program development, 2) salary and benefits for our teaching staff and 3) financial aid for students. All donations to the fund are unrestricted and will be managed by the Board of Trustees.

Please give today to the James P. Heus Legacy Fund to honor Jim's incredible dedication and commitment.

Parent Summer Book Club

We are excited to announce our first parent summer book club. The plan is to have as many parents read the book during the summer as possible and then we will gather together in the fall to discuss. The book we have chosen is Voice Lessons for Parents: What to Say, How to Say it and When to Listen by Wendy Mogel, PhD. We have also partnered with Books on the Common in Ridgefield who will have the book available in store. If you choose to order through Amazon, please remember to use Amazon Smile so that your purchase might benefit the school.

Feel free to reach out to either Clinton Howarth or Alison O'Callaghan if you have any questions.

Upperline Code's Web Coding Program this Summer at RA

Ridgefield Academy is excited to host a two-week course run by Upperline Code. Here is a brief description of the course, and you can find more information about both the course and Upperline Code at http://upperlinecode.com.

Web Development with Ruby
: Curious about programming for the web? This is the course for you! In the first week of this course, our students learn the basics of Ruby, a language used by companies like Hulu and Kickstarter to manage their web content. In the second week, we use Ruby frameworks to build amazing web applications, like offering restaurant recommendations or creating a personalized gif based on your mood.
Check out an example project here: http://upperlinecode.com/recipe

Please contact Basil Kolani with questions.
