Affording an RA Education

At Ridgefield Academy, we understand the life-changing value of an empowering education. We also know that investing in such an education can be challenging. We are committed to making Ridgefield Academy accessible and affordable for mission appropriate students, working hard to provide a tuition assistance program which bridges the gap between tuition and what a family can afford. Please come to our Tuition Assistance Workshop on November 27 from 7-8:30pm in Turner Hall to learn more about this process.

New This Year: RA's 1:1 Chromebook Program

After two years of piloting a one Chromebook per student in the fourth grade and steadily increasing the number of available laptops in the Annex building, the Center launched a 1:1 Chromebook program in the Middle and Upper Schools this year. Beginning in September 2018, each student in grades 4-8 has a Chromebook dedicated to their use. The benefits of this program are that teachers no longer have to hope that laptops they need for class are available – giving them a chance to more easily incorporate technology into their classes and homework – and that students are able to work on digital assignments at any point in the school day. Students in the Upper School are welcome to use their own laptops if they wish, but we do ask families to complete this form so that we know which laptops we can free up for general use.

Nearly two months into the program, faculty members agree that an unexpected benefit of this program is a greater sense of responsibility on the part of our students. They have risen to the challenge of keeping tabs on their laptops, making sure that they are returned to their advisors' rooms for charging, and taking great care of them.

As the school year continues, we look forward to sharing more about how the Chromebooks are being used in classes across the curriculum.

Grade 8 students met with Mr. Main this week to work on mock interviews for their secondary school process.
