And this year's Tournament of Books winners are....Knut: How One Little Polar Bear Captivated the World and Can I Be Your Dog!

2019 Tournament of Books Winners

This year's Tournament of Books came to an end this week when the winners were announced at morning assembly last Monday.

The 4s and Kindergarten voted between The Wolf, The Duck and The Mouse by Mac Barnett versus Can I be Your Dog by Troy Cummings. And the winner is Can I be Your Dog! Students loved the book especially Oliver, who said "I liked it and thought it would win because it was really sweet and it had a happy ending."

Grades 1-3 voted between The Boo-Boos that Changed the World by Barry Wittenstein and Knut: How One Little Polar Bear Captivated the World by Craig Hatkoff. And the winner is Knut: How One Little Polar Bear Captivated the World! Many students had a lot to say about Knut:

Abby: "I loved Knut because he was super cute and tiny and he had such an inspiring story."
Carolyn: "I know why Knut won; because everyone loves polar bears!"
Cole:"I knew Knut would win because it had adorable photos and because it was happy."
Russell: "I thought Knut would win because he was very cute and the book was fascinating. The guy (zoo keeper) took care of him for 3 years!"
Michael: "I didn't think Boo Boo's would win because Knut was cuter!"
Sasha: "Knut was very cute and he survived when his sibling didn't."

Many thanks to Mrs. Heaslip and Mrs. Buchan for organizing another great tournament!
