Dear St. Anne’s Community,
We hope you all had a great summer and are excited for the new school year! As you all know, Alan has decided to make this school year his last as our Head of School. With such big shoes to fill, we’ve been hard at work over the past several months finding the best possible person to lead our school into a new and exciting chapter. The new leader will become only the sixth Head of School in St. Anne’s Episcopal School history.
We’re happy to report that response has been overwhelming. Our search consultants told us this would be a popular search, but the response has been even more positive than imagined. Over 60 qualified applicants applied for the position – a mix of sitting heads of school and “rising stars” or high performers ready to become heads of school. As a few of our families may recall, Alan himself was a “rising star” when he first came to St. Anne’s thirteen years ago.
As we continue to narrow our search, we appreciate your understanding of the need for strict confidentiality on the part of the search committee. These high-potential recruits all have current jobs and premature leaks at this stage would potentially compromise their current roles. In fact, many would withdraw from the search without the guarantee of confidentiality. Once we narrow to the final three candidates, we will open it up to the community and are excited for you to meet them and to provide your feedback to the committee and ultimately the Board of Trustees. We currently have two times set aside with each candidate for these meet-and-greet sessions:
- September 27th, 6:30-7:30 pm and September 28th, 8:30-9:30 am
- October 1st, 6:30-7:30 pm and October 2nd, 8:30-9:30 am
- October 4th, 6:30-7:30 pm and October 5th, 8:30-9:30 am
These will all take place in the Dining and Performing Arts Center. Please save the dates!
Following these on-campus sessions, the search committee will make a final recommendation to the Board of Trustees, with the Board making the final hiring decision. Our goal is to name a new Head of School by December. We will continue to keep you all updated in the process and look forward to seeing you at these community events. As always, thanks for your support in this process.
