Green Tip: Shut it Down!
Think on this: A computer left on overnight uses 1 Kwh of electricity; if 1,000 people turned off their computers when they went home, they would save 180 metric tons of CO2 emissions every year. (Clift & Cuthbert, Greening Your Office).

Lower School Movie Afternoon - Smallfoot
Please join the Parents Association for a Lower School Movie Afternoon, TOMORROW Friday, February 1. We will have snacks in the Lower School Lobby at 3:30 p.m., followed by the movie Smallfoot in the Lower School Amphitheater beginning at 4:00 p.m. Please note that parents must accompany students for the duration of the movie. We hope your family will join us!

An animated adventure for all ages, Smallfoot turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti finds something he thought didn't exist—a human! News of this "smallfoot" throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the world beyond their snowy village. Smallfoot is a story about friendship, courage, and the joy of discovery. Rated
PG (for some action, rude humor, and thematic elements).

Upper School Dance on February 8
Chloe Fisher (with support from Student Council and faculty members) is sponsoring a dance for all Upper School students to benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research on Friday, February 8 from 7:00–10:00 p.m. in the Student Center/Atrium. Cost of the dance is $10 (proceeds will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer Research).
Expectations for students during Upper School dances:

  • Your child is permitted to bring one guest as long as they sign up in advance. A form will be emailed to all students this week.
  • Students are permitted to leave the dance whenever they choose, but once they leave they may not return to the dance.
  • Sometimes students choose to sleep at a friend's house after the dance. They are allowed to bring bags to the dance. We will have a designated area for your child to keep their bags. A chaperone will be assigned to keep an eye on the bags.
All students will be given these rules as well as the expectation that dancing will be appropriate for a school function and the event will be substance free.
