Current EC4 parents who were not able to attend the EC/K-1 Reception on January 30 are invited to meet with Anne Hopkins on Wednesday, February 13 from 8:30–9:30 a.m. in Anne’s office. The conversation will focus on your child’s upcoming transition to K-1 and beyond in the Lower School.

Save the Date: Family Pachanga on March 6
Pachanga is a Spanish word meaning “party” or “joyful gathering.” Each week, the entire Lower School gathers for Pachanga to share and sing. For Family Pachanga we invite parents and siblings to join the Lower School in the Gym for this lively sing-a-long. Our second Family Pachanga of the school year is on Wednesday, March 6, from 11:30 a.m.–noon. We hope that you can make it!

Middle School

Today is a 6-12 Special Day!
Students will not attend classes, tutoring sessions, and other commitments in order to participate in a grade-level advising day. Grade 6 is at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Grade 7 is volunteering at Head Start and having their annual bowl-a-thon, and Grade 8 will see author and teacher Colum McCann speak about “Fearless Hope Through Radical Empathy.” Ask your child about their day and how it related to the three C’s of our advising program: Curiosity, Care, and Courage.

Progress Reports
Teachers are preparing the next set of “progress reports” as we approach the mid-point of the third quarter. We will send them to parents during the week of February 11.

If your child is struggling in a class, the teacher will contact your child’s advisor and may write a report to send home. These progress reports are automatically generated and emailed to you at the mid-point of the second, third, and fourth quarters. Teachers write reports for students doing C- work or below, as well as for all students whose work has changed a letter grade since the end of the prior marking period.

Upper School

Upper School Dance on February 8
Chloe Fisher (with support from Student Council and faculty members) is sponsoring a dance for all Upper School students to benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research TOMORROW, Friday, February 8 from 7:00–10:00 p.m. in the Student Center/Atrium. Cost of the dance is $10 (proceeds will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer Research).
Expectations for students during Upper School dances:

  • Your child is permitted to bring one guest as long as they sign up in advance. A form was emailed to all students.
  • Students are permitted to leave the dance whenever they choose, but they cannot return once they leave.
  • Sometimes students choose to sleep at a friend's house after the dance. They are allowed to bring bags to the dance. We will have a designated area for your child to keep their bags. A chaperone will be assigned to keep an eye on the bags.
All students will be given these rules as well as the expectation that dancing will be appropriate for a school function and the event will be substance-free.
