Guests from Chile Arrive Today
Our Chilean guests arrive this afternoon and will join the community until April 6. Constanza and Juan Pablo will be beginning their sophomore year of studies with us (they live on the other side of the equator so they are still on summer break!). While here, they will stay with Waynflete host families, attend classes in the Upper School, and assist the Spanish teachers in all three divisions. Their classmates and chaperones will be living and attending five other schools in Cumberland County as well as celebrating their 18th year of homestays in Maine. We are thrilled to participate and hope that the visit will provide opportunities for all to share stories and learn from each other. Please join us in welcoming them to our communities this spring!

If you can’t join us on campus on One Day, you can give now and be counted toward our goal of 600 gifts between now and the end of day March 14.

An Evening on Emotional Well-Being and Mental Health
Is your child’s life affected by anxiety? How can you tell? How can you help?
All children are at risk for experiencing feelings of anxiety as they move through their school years and continue to increase their independence. Knowing what level of worry falls in the typical developmental range and what constitutes a reason for concern can help you in your role as a supportive parent.

Please join us on Wednesday, March 20 from 6:30–8:00 p.m. in Franklin Theater for an evening of exploring signs and symptoms of anxiety, ways to support your child’s resilience, and options for responding with care. All parents, students (Grades 6-12), faculty, family, and friends are encouraged to attend. After viewing the 45-minute documentary Angst, there will be a panel discussion of parents and professionals. Offered by the Parents Association Diversity & Inclusion Committee

Click here to watch the Angst trailer and clips.

Important reminder for sophomores: March Pre-ACT
On Thursday, March 14, the College Counseling office will be administering the Pre-ACT to all Waynflete sophomores. Students do not need to sign up for this test, but should assemble outside the Art Gallery lobby by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14. All sophomores should come to school prepared with a calculator and #2 pencils. Results from the Pre-ACT are not part of the college admissions process. This is a practice test to familiarize students with both the content and the format of the ACT (a college entrance exam that many students choose to take in the winter or spring of the junior year).

Test time is approximately two hours and 10 minutes (with approximately 60 minutes of pre-test activities).
If students receive accommodations at Waynflete and want to use them for the Pre-ACT, they should contact John Thurston and Stacey Sevelowitz.

Questions? Please contact John Thurston or Emily Birchby.
