Spring Choral Concert Tonight
Please join us tonight in Franklin Theater for choral offerings from our students across age levels. 

  • Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m.: Grades 4–5, Middle and Upper School Choral Ensembles, and Waynflete Intergenerational Chorus.

Grandparents & Friends Day is Tomorrow, May 3

Please note the following:

  • Lower School students will be dismissed at 12:10 p.m. (click here or read under the Lower School section below to learn about special no-charge Afterschool for Lower School students)
  • 6-12 students have a full day
We ask that 6-12 students with visitors meet their guests in the Gym at 8:45 a.m. so that they can escort their visitors to class. Guests visiting Lower School will be escorted by parent volunteers.

Spring Dance Concerts - May 8 and 9
The Waynflete Lower and Middle School Dance Enrichment classes and the Upper School Danceflete Collective will perform OUT OF THIS WORLD. This mystical and magical dance concert will feature the Lower School Dancers on Wednesday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m. The Middle and Upper School Dancers will perform on Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. Both performances are in Franklin Theater.

Prospective parents are invited to sit in on classes and ask teachers about our approach to early education on Wednesday, May 15 from 9:00-10:30 a.m

All Grade Coffee with the Head of School
Learn more about Waynflete with Head of School Geoff Wagg on Thursday, May 16 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Interested parents are invited to join a campus tour after the coffee.

Health Form Reminder 
It is time to update your child's information in Magnus, our healthcare portal. Parents should have recently received an email with details about how to login and what is required. Click here for detailed instructions. Please note that students may not participate in any Waynflete activities including attending class, physical education, athletics, preseason practices, LEAP Week (for Middle School students), or Outdoor Experience (for Upper School students) until all required forms are completed and submitted to the school.

Parents Association

Grade 8 and 9 Parent Information Meeting 
Grade 12 parents are hosting a session for Grade 8 and Grade 9 parents to talk about all things Upper School! Please join us in Brock Conference Room on Monday, May 6 at 6:00 p.m. for a casual conversation and a chance to ask questions about the upcoming high school years. Parents have found this event helpful in previous years, so we hope you will join the discussion. Questions about these sessions? All Parents are invited: Parents Association Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Please join us on Monday, May 13 to celebrate our year. This year's final Parents Association meeting will take place from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in the Lower School Amphitheater. We will thank this year's volunteers and vote in next year's slate of officers. After the meeting, we will celebrate over an informal dinner at the nearby home of Kristin Valdmanis, Parent Association President.

PMA Event for Parents
By special invitation, Waynflete parents are invited to the Portland Museum of Art’s Director’s Circle and Contemporaries Council Evening Preview and Reception for In the Vanguard: Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, 1950-1969. Join fellow parents and PMA members on Wednesday, May 22 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. for a reception with drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Tomorrow: Grandparents and Friends Day Dismissal is at 12:10 p.m.
Tomorrow, May 3 (Grandparents & Friends Day), Lower School students will be dismissed at 12:10 p.m. There will be no 12:20 p.m. bus tomorrow. Lower School student bus riders may be picked up at dismissal or are welcome to join Waynflete Afterschool for no fee in the afternoon. Friday bus students who join Afterschool will ride their regular afternoon bus home at 3:35 p.m. Please email Tessa Anable at enrichment@waynflete.org ASAP to ensure that your student has a spot.

Students already registered for the “Full-Time” Afterschool program will automatically be included and picked up by the Afterschool teachers at 12:10. Questions? Email enrichment@waynflete.org.

Lower School Parent Coffee on Monday May 6
Creating Windows and Mirrors for Children: Focus on Gender
Join Lower School Director Anne Hopkins, Waynflete Health Coordinator Abby Lord, and School Counselor Kate Corbett to view the New Day video Creating Gender-Inclusive Schools, to learn about the ways in which Lower School teachers aim to create inclusive classrooms and discuss topics of diversity and identity. Monday, May 6 from 8:30–9:30 a.m. in the Klingenstein Library.

Grandparents and Friends Day Reminder
Middle School students will have a full day of classes this Friday, May 3. Grandparents and friends will join us for an extended morning of classes until noon, and then students will have lunch and advising period as well as afternoon classes and sports. Any student who plans on leaving early should inform their advisor and Middle School Assistant Carrie Turner.

Reminder: Middle School Dance/Social on Friday, May 10
A reminder that we moved our spring dance/social event to Friday, May 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. (new time). The seventh grade will sponsor this gathering. Keep an eye out for a note from Divya regarding more details about the evening.

Save the Date: The Eighth Grade Performs Robin Hood on May 22
Join us on Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. for the eighth grade performance of the musical Robin Hood in Franklin Theater.

Summer Camp Programs for Young Teens
Waynflete Flyers Summer Camps
offer an incredible variety of programs especially designed for young teens. The middle school years are a great time for camp!

  • Flyers camps are for campers up to age 15
  • Offerings include teen sports camps, theater camp, and unique teen offerings combining outdoor exploration with art, sketching, cooking, and D&D.
  • About 30% of our campers are Waynflete students. The rest come from towns around southern Maine, as well as visitors to Maine from around the U.S. and from other countries.
  • All Out Teen Camps are designed specifically for young teens.

Attention Juniors: Important Reminders
SAT Standardized Test - May 4
Below are important reminders for those who have registered to take the SAT test on Saturday, May 4:

  • Please arrive at the Emery Student Center by 7:45 a.m.
  • Bring a hard copy of your SAT admission ticket
  • Bring one official form of ID: driver's license, Waynflete student ID, or a passport
  • Bring a calculator and back-up batteries. We will NOT be able to provide calculators, should you forget yours
  • Bring plenty of sharp #2 pencils
  • Bring a water bottle and snack for the breaks
Students registered for the essay, should plan on finishing around 1:30 p.m. Those not registered for the essay should finish no later than 12:30 p.m.

Save the date: Performing Arts Banquet May 20
The annual Performing Arts Banquet for Upper School students and parents will take place on Monday, May 20. from 6:00-8:00 p.m. All Upper School students who participated in dance, music ensembles, stage crew, and theatre productions are invited to attend with their parents.

Athletics

Volunteers Needed for the Snack Shack
We like to open the Snack Shack during home games, so please consider volunteering for a shift. All directions are in the Shack. It is very easy and you can still watch the games. Click here to sign up!
